They stand at the corner of gas stations, five-star hotels, and quiet alleyways. Phase I documents the ubiquity of the spirit house.
A constant, silent presence that most travelers walk past, yet never truly see.
Phase II
The Divine Dwellers
Beyond the architecture lies the inhabitant.
In Phase II, we look closer at the San Phra Phum (The Celestial Guardians) and the San Jao Ti (The Ancestral Spirits).
We document the deities clad in gold leaf and the 'Grandpa-Grandma' figurines who rule over the land.
Phase III
The Living Ritual
A spirit house is not a monument; it is a conversation.
Phase III captures the pulse of daily devotion; from the ritual of the red Fanta sacrifice to the modern offerings of miniature Ferraris and smartphones.
This is the ritual in motion.
Phase IV
The Afterlife Of Shrines
When a shrine is broken or replaced, it cannot simply be discarded.
Phase IV explores the 'graveyards' of the sacred. The shadows under ancient Bodhi trees where old guardians are laid to rest, returning their energy to the earth.
